What You’ll Be Doing:
- Powerline Survey Operations – Complete powerline surveys while working closely with the Project Manager to ensure all client objectives are met.
- Data & Documentation Management – Provide necessary documentation to office staff including field notes, computations, and other survey data.
- Team Communication & Coordination – Communicate effectively with team members and ensure tasks are completed accurately and on schedule.
- Health & Safety Compliance – Perform all health and safety duties in accordance with company safety procedures and standards.
- Survey Equipment Operation – Operate and maintain survey equipment such as GPS/GNSS rovers, locators, and other survey tools while ensuring company vehicles and equipment are properly used and maintained.
- Boundary & Data Assessment – Understand legal boundary evidence assessment and perform required calculations.
- Powerline Profiling – Perform powerline profiling using GPS and distometer equipment.
What We’re Looking For:
- Education & Experience – Diploma or Degree in Geomatics or a related discipline along with powerline utility survey experience, which is required for this role.
- Utility Industry Knowledge – Experience working with powerline utility surveys and familiarity with ATCO Electric and FortisAlberta workflows is considered an asset.
- Field Flexibility – Willingness to travel and work out of town as required.
- Licensed & Reliable – Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean driver’s abstract.
- Physically Capable – Comfortable working outdoors in varying conditions and carrying equipment over long distances.
- Technical Skills – Line locating experience is required. Experience with 3D scanning and operating modern survey equipment is considered an asset.
- Drone Certification – Advanced RPAS (Drone) Pilot Certification is considered an asset.
- Safety Training – Valid safety certificates such as H2S, First Aid, CSTS, and Wildlife Awareness are considered assets.
